The best personal AI agents in 2026: Muse, dots, Duet, Grok Bot, and more
Every big AI company now has an always-on agent. Here's what Meta Muse, ChatGPT dots, Claude Duet, Grok Bot, Gemini Spark, Instinct, OpenClaw, and Stormi are each best at.
The best personal AI agent depends on what you want done. For everyday errands, choose Meta Muse. For the most capable team of bots, Grok Bot. For one agent pursuing long-running goals, ChatGPT dots. For careful help with professional work, Claude Duet. If you live in Google apps, Gemini Spark (now called Task). If you want to host it yourself, OpenClaw. For a native iPhone app with no subscription and your choice of model for each bot, Stormi.
We make Stormi, so weigh that. We wrote this from each company's documentation and published hands-on tests, not from our own benchmark, and we say plainly where others are stronger. Checked November 2026. This category changes weekly, so confirm access and prices on each product's site.
What a personal AI agent is
A chatbot answers when you ask. A personal agent takes a goal, uses your apps and often its own cloud computer, keeps working when you close the app, and comes back when it's done or needs a decision. For the basics, see what is an AI agent?

Meta Muse: best for everyday life
Muse is the agent that took this category mainstream. Meta launched it on September 8, and within about two weeks it had more than 2.5 million US downloads and reached number one among free apps on the App Store, Yahoo Finance reported. It's built for people with no technical background.
It stands out for shopping: Meta says a one-time card number is generated at checkout, so neither the merchant nor the agent sees your real card, and you approve actions like emails and purchases. It also has clear limits. It's one agent on one model, it isn't available everywhere, and Amazon blocked it from its site. More in Stormi vs Meta Muse.
Grok Bot: best for a capable team
Grok Bot gives you several named bots with routines and group chats, on every major platform including iPhone and Android. It came first overall, at 93%, in a nine-task test by How I AI on Lenny's Newsletter, and Peter Yang also ranked it first in an October 22 review on X.
Two things to weigh: xAI's FAQ says you can't choose the model, and an account's bots share one computer, including files and logins. See Stormi vs Grok Bot.
ChatGPT dots: best for long-running goals
A dot is one agent with its own cloud computer that keeps making progress between conversations. OpenAI's guide covers scheduled tasks, connected apps, optional access to your own computer, and custom rules for what it can do without asking. In the How I AI test, it showed strong personal context but was weak on creative tasks. See Stormi vs ChatGPT dots.
Claude Duet: best for careful professional help
Duet is Anthropic's proactive agent. It sends a morning brief, checks your connected apps every few hours, and asks before it sends a message, pays, signs, or deletes. The How I AI test found it the slowest and the most likely to ask for approval. That's a real cost, and also the point for some people. It's a US waitlist preview for now. See Stormi vs Claude Duet.
Gemini Spark, now Task: best if you live in Google
Google announced Spark in May and has since renamed it Task. It's the obvious pick if your work and life are in Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. Look for Task above the text box in the Gemini app. See Stormi vs Gemini Spark.
Perplexity Teammates: the newest arrival
Announced November 5, Teammates are persistent work agents with isolated browsers, and they can message people in Slack. They launched for Max subscribers on the web. See Stormi vs Perplexity Teammates.
Instinct: best for errands by text
Instinct has no new app to learn. You text or call it, and it handles things like arranging a ride or booking a handyman. It's the startup everyone's talking about, valued at $10 billion in September, but it was still invitation-only at that point. See Stormi vs Instinct.
OpenClaw and Hermes Agent: best if you want to own it
OpenClaw started the wave. It's open source, you host it, and you bring your own model. Hermes Agent from Nous Research is the popular alternative in the same style. Both give you more control than anything else here, along with the work of setting up and securing them. Every's comparison table covers them alongside the big names.
Stormi: best for repeating jobs on iPhone
Stormi takes a different approach: instead of one agent that does everything, you get a team of bots with one job each. Each bot has its own instructions, its own plugins, and any model on OpenRouter. Bots run on our server on a schedule, hand work to each other, and ask before they send, pay, delete, or submit. There's no subscription.
Where the others beat us: Stormi is new. Its bots don't have their own cloud computer, can't search the web, and only read URLs you give them, so they aren't the right choice for shopping and browsing errands. It's iPhone and iPad only, on iOS 27 or later.
